“Lakuma 087” by Markus Krug is a unique wall sculpture made of acrylic on cardboard, combining craftsmanship and a refined sense of colour composition. Starting from the bottom, hand-cut cardboard strips (13 × 3 cm) in various colours were intuitively arranged and fixed with white acrylic paint until the defined height of the piece was reached.

Each sculpture is a one-of-a-kind artwork that adds structure, depth, and creative dynamism to modern interiors – ideal for collectors of contemporary wall sculptures.

Markus Krug

Markus Krug, born in Singen in 1965, lives and works in Munich.

For more than 20 years, Markus Krug has been investigating structural concepts in consecutive series. Planning, clarity, execution: sculptures, objects and installations are created using various techniques; they resemble each other and could be connected like a kind of matrix.
Markus Krug creates homogeneous, reduced works from a wide variety of materials: paper, cardboard, styrofoam or polystyrene foam. Due to the manual working method, minimal differences arise, which are highlighted or concealed by the application of acrylic paint, mainly in black or white.

The viscosity, quantity and handling of the paint are constantly changed from object to object, while the connection to the origin always remains.
