“Lakuma 092” by Markus Krug is a distinctive wall sculpture made of cardboard, combining minimalist design with precise craftsmanship. Starting from the bottom, hand-cut packaging cardboard strips (13 × 3 cm) were intuitively layered and glued until the defined height of the piece was reached.

Each piece is a one-of-a-kind artwork that adds structure, depth, and a sculptural presence to modern interiors – ideal for collectors of contemporary wall objects.

Markus Krug

Markus Krug, born in Singen in 1965, lives and works in Munich.

For more than 20 years, Markus Krug has been investigating structural concepts in consecutive series. Planning, clarity, execution: sculptures, objects and installations are created using various techniques; they resemble each other and could be connected like a kind of matrix.
Markus Krug creates homogeneous, reduced works from a wide variety of materials: paper, cardboard, styrofoam or polystyrene foam. Due to the manual working method, minimal differences arise, which are highlighted or concealed by the application of acrylic paint, mainly in black or white.

The viscosity, quantity and handling of the paint are constantly changed from object to object, while the connection to the origin always remains.
