A quiet, minimalist artwork from the „Raindrop“ series by Silvija Kicivoj, bringing together natural materials, colour and the intimacy of handcraft.

For this new and experimental piece, raw canvas was first stained with coffee by hand, creating a warm, earthy background with a natural, tactile quality. A single raindrop is then carefully hand-embroidered onto the canvas in a delicate petrol blue. The embroidery thread has a subtle sheen, allowing the raindrop to gently catch and reflect the light.

The work is defined by the contrast between the warm, matte surface of the coffee-stained canvas and the cool, softly shimmering embroidery. The visible textile structure and individually embroidered lines give the piece a tactile depth that becomes particularly apparent when viewed up close.

„Raindrop“ combines the aesthetic of minimalist abstract art with traditional hand embroidery and natural materials. Its quiet composition allows it to blend effortlessly into a range of interiors while retaining a distinctive handmade character.

Each artwork in the series is entirely handmade and exists as a unique original.

Silvija Kicivoj

Silvija Kicivoj, born in Zagreb in 1989, has lived and worked in Düsseldorf since 2008.

Silvija's works are created in the interplay between inner and outer worlds. She explores interpersonal relationships, emotional reactions, and the impact of her surroundings. Her works revolve around themes such as self-perception, change, balance, and the need to give deeper meaning to everyday experiences.

Through clear forms, finely placed lines, and a deliberate choice of materials, she translates thoughts and feelings into a tangible, visual language. Structure, surface, and atmosphere play just as important a role as content. The works do not invite quick interpretation – they appear quiet and restrained, unfolding their depth in dialogue with the viewer.
